The game started with an early advantage for the Wolverines, thanks to Nick Taylor’s kick to Camron Correll, which resulted in a try. Matt Brown-Ramos successfully converted, giving the Wolverines a 7-0 lead over the defending FYRU State Champions. A few minutes later, the opposing team was penalized near their own goal, presenting an opportunity for the Wolverines to capitalize and extend their lead to 10-0.
However, the momentum shifted in favor of Okapi, who managed to score two tries, converting one of them. This brought the score to 12-10 in favor of Okapi. The Wolverines then committed a penalty just before halftime, which the opposing team capitalized on with a successful penalty kick. As a result, Okapi led 15-10 at the end of the first half.
In the second half, the Okapi kicker and Matt Brown-Ramos from the Wolverines engaged in a thrilling exchange of successful penalty kicks, narrowing the gap to 18-16 in favor of Okapi. Later in the half, the Wanderers managed to score a try and convert it, further extending their lead to 25-15. With five minutes remaining, Matt Brown-Ramos completed another successful penalty kick, bringing his impressive record to 4/5 for the day. Despite having the ball in the final minutes of the game, the Wolverines were unable to secure a try and tie the score.
In a hard-fought battle, the Wolverines ultimately lost 25-19. However, the lessons learned from this game will undoubtedly contribute to their future success.
